The Sea turtle hatchery is situated in Habraduwa, about 2 km by tuk-tuk from South Lake Resort. The hatchery is run as a non-profit organization to preserve these rare species.There are five varieties of Sea Turtles found in Sri Lanka, namely Olive Ridley Turtle, Loggerhead Turtle, Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle and Leatherhead Turtle.
