Dambadeniya an ancient capital city of the mid 13th Century, still to be fully excavated, a visitor can view the remains of the palace, temple and ponds or climb the rock for incredible views.

RidiViharaya or Silver Temple is a 2nd-century BCE Theravada Buddhist temple in the village of Ridigama.

Ruins of Panduwasnuwara, builtin the 12th century AD, spreadsover 20- hectares.  It is said that this was the location where Princess UnmadaChithchtra was kept in a high tower away from the eyes of men, due to prophesy, that her son would kill all his uncles in battle and become the ruler of Sri Lanka. The prophesy realized. Her son, was smuggled away at birth, survived and fulfilled the prophesy by becoming King Pandukahabya of Sri Lanka.
